ZEBEDEE, a company that specializes in Bitcoin gaming and payments, recently made an announcement regarding the launch of its “No Big Deal” (NBD) non-profit organization, which has the mission of advancing open-source Bitcoin development.

The Lightning Network is a layer 2 network that helps make bitcoin transactions faster and cheaper. NBD comes out of the gate with several projects that deal with hosted channels on the Lightning Network. Hosted channels are a type of network connection that do not demand bitcoin payments from users in order to make Lightning transactions.

Instead of relying on third-party services that are offered for profit, like ZEBEDEE itself, other Bitcoin developers will be able to build their own software thanks to an initiative called NBD (New Bitcoin Development).

“NBD does not engage in any commercial activity, does not provide any services, and does not provide any product support. It merely generates code and then distributes it to everyone else so that they can do whatever they want with it.”
