Yuga Labs, the creative company behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), has announced a new extension to its non-fungible token (NFT) ecosystem, beginning with a free mint and a skill-based game.
The one-of-a-kind drop begins on January 17 with a free mint dubbed Sewer Passes for existing Bored Ape Yacht Club/Mutant Ape Yacht Club members. These tokens are required to play Dookey Dash, a skill-based game that will be available on January 18.
Anyone with a Sewer Pass, even those acquired on the secondary market, will be allowed to play Dookey Dash. Holders can play the game an infinite number of times in order to receive a score greater than 0 and verify their Sewer Passes and “convert them into a secret power source.”
The outcome of this bizarre procedure will be revealed on February 15, when Dookey Dash gaming concludes.
“Sewer Pass holders will fight for the highest score and earn their new power source,” BAYC announced on Wednesday in a series of tweets. “What it exposes will be determined by the highest single-run score on your unique Sewer Pass and associated wallet that achieved the run.”
The team also implied that whatever is released will “develop throughout 2023” and be used in future “battles.” A detailed description of the game’s mechanics may be found here.
According to Yuga Labs’ current project’s roadmap, the NFTs developed during this month-long experiment would be used in a narrative experience named “Chapter 1” at a later date.
