Coinbase’s Base mainnet is now open to the public, with over 100 Dapps and service providers as part of the Base ecosystem.

Users can explore these dapps and benefit from lower transaction costs and faster transaction speeds when compared to Ethereum, according to Jesse Pollak, Coinbase’s protocol lead.

Base has merged with a wide range of crypto projects since its testnet launch in February and subsequent developer-only release in July, including DeFi protocols, wallets, bridges, oracles, and both analytics and infrastructure providers.

Base is a rollup network built on Optimism’s software stack known as the OP Stack. Base is a scaling solution that handles transactions off of the main Ethereum blockchain, making the network more inexpensive for dapps.

Furthermore, it is expected that this Layer 2 solution would become the default network for Coinbase’s on-chain goods. “We are delighted to announce that the Base mainnet is now live and accessible to all.” “At launch, the Base ecosystem includes 100+ Dapps and service providers, as well as deep integrations across the Coinbase product ecosystem,” added Pollak.
