Despite the crypto winter, the cryptocurrency venture capital market remains strong, with major government-linked firms reportedly continuing to bet on major industry players.
Bloomberg reported on Tuesday that Singapore’s state-owned investment firm Temasek is joining a $100 million funding round for blockchain and venture studio Animoca Brands. According to the report, Temasek will lead Animoca’s convertible bond financing round.
Temasek is a significant crypto-related investor, having participated in multiple investment rounds for major industry players such as the Binance crypto exchange. The firm is also known for its support of crypto finance service provider Amber Group earlier this year, as well as its involvement in numerous other industry projects, such as a blockchain-based carbon credit exchange.
Temasek, headquartered in Singapore, is one of the world’s largest investors. Temasek’s Asian portfolio was worth approximately 403 billion Singapore dollars, or $290 billion, as of March 2022, according to official data.
