In terms of average daily transactions, the Ethereum Layer 2 network Base, fostered by the crypto exchange Coinbase, surpassed the popular Optimistic Rollup scaling solutions Arbitrum and Optimism this week.

On Aug. 15, Base’s seven-day moving average daily transaction count hit 610,000, compared to Optimism’s 597,000 and Arbitrum’s 576,000, before declining.

The social network friend.tech helped grow Base’s daily active users to over 100,000 within a day of its public mainnet launch.

Base also topped the pair in terms of new daily unique addresses and profits earned for the first six days following introduction, but these figures have also slipped back in recent days as the initial excitement surrounding the Layer 2 has died down.

According to the most recent data for August 17, Base created 24,000 new addresses, compared to 32,000 and 29,000 for Optimism and Arbitrum, respectively.
