Prithvi Subburaj, a former Google general manager, has been named chief operational officer of OP Labs, a core developer of the Optimism Collective, which oversees the Layer 2 network Optimism.

OP Labs is a research and development organisation that uses optimistic rollups to improve the scalability of Ethereum applications.

Subburaj’s appointment comes on the heels of Optimism co-founder Karl Floersch’s promotion to CEO of OP Labs earlier this year. Subburaj is the firm’s first executive hire following the change in leadership.

“Prithvi brings the expertise and leadership needed to scale our teams and processes to support this exponential growth and future potential,” OP Labs CEO Karl Floersch stated.
