Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, formally named his replacement as CEO on Friday morning: NBCUniversal’s current advertising head, Linda Yaccarino.
Yaccarino is a seasoned media executive, having worked for NBCUniversal for over 12 years and Turner Broadcasting for 20 years before that. However, nothing is known about her thoughts on current hot-button issues for Twitter, such as the potential future role of cryptocurrency on the social media platform.
She may not be a rookie to crypto, especially the meme-inspired cryptocurrency that have long piqued her new employer’s interest. Yaccarino presently follows multiple Dogecoin and Shiba Inu-related Twitter accounts, including the official accounts for both coins.
On Twitter, Yaccarino follows a number of key members of the Dogecoin community, including co-founder Billy Markus, DogeDesigner, the designer of MyDoge, a self-custodial Dogecoin wallet, and Sir Doge of the Coin, a renowned Dogecoin evangelist and influencer.
She has not yet publicly remarked on the role Dogecoin and other cryptocurrencies may play on Twitter under her leadership. Her Dogecoin-heavy Twitter account, though, is consistent with Musk’s reputation as an enthusiastic, if occasionally tongue-in-cheek, Dogecoin supporter.
Musk has regularly hinted at the inclusion of cryptocurrency payments on the site, particularly with Dogecoin. Twitter momentarily replaced its blue bird logo with a Doge meme last month, propelling the coin’s value up by 20%.
