Hong Kong is considering giving regular investors access to spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that invest directly in cryptocurrency.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Julia Leung, chief executive officer of the Securities and Futures Commission, stated that the agency is considering such retail investment products and encourages “proposals using innovative technology that boosts efficiency and customer experience.”
“We’re willing to give it a shot as long as any new risks are addressed.” “Regardless of the asset, our approach is consistent,” Leung noted.
Hong Kong now has three futures-based crypto ETFs listed: Samsung Bitcoin Futures Active ETF, CSOP Bitcoin Futures ETF, and CSOP Ether Futures ETF.
