The Dublin, Ireland office will serve as the headquarters for Gemini’s European activities, the company revealed. On Thursday, Cameron Winklevoss tweeted that American crypto exchanges were expanding their operations in response to a growing governmental crackdown in the United States.

Gemini reportedly chose Dublin as the location for its European headquarters because of the city’s vibrant start-up culture. Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulation was authorized last week by the European Union, prompting several crypto companies to consider leaving the United States.

Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar came to Twitter to offer his congratulations to the Gemini sign.

The Prime Minister added that Gemini’s choice to locate its headquarters in Ireland demonstrates the Irish government’s commitment to innovation.

Varadkar said: “Gemini’s decision to locate in Ireland highlights our competitive offering for the international financial services sector. I wish Gemini every success as they build their team in Ireland.”

Gemini was the first cryptocurrency exchange to register with the Central Bank of Ireland as a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) in July 2022. In February 2022, the exchange obtained an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license from the Bank.

Gemini Foundation, an offshore cryptocurrency derivative platform, was introduced less than a month ago. The new exchange was introduced in 30 nations, however consumers in the US, UK, or EU are not able to use it.

According to Gemini, the platform would let users start trading using perpetual contracts for Bitcoin that are valued in Gemini Dollars (GUSD) and offer 100x leverage.
