ETC Cooperative Requests Chandler Guo to Drop the Ethereum Fork (ETHW) Plan

Chandler Guo, a well-known miner and the instigator of the Ethereum PoW hard fork, receives an open letter from ETC Cooperative as the debate over it erupts into a passionate argument.

The Ethereum PoW fork, according to ETC Cooperative, the group backing the Ethereum Classic (ETC) project, “won’t work.”

ETC Cooperative explains why they think the Ethereum PoW hard fork would fail in an open letter to Chandler Guo. The most difficult thing to do right now will be to fork Ethereum, too.

Chandler Guo and his group must fork the Geth, Erigon, Besu, and Nethermind codebases in order to fork Ethereum. The proof-of-stake (PoS) transition mechanism that Ethereum Foundation has changed over time must then be removed by the team. It won’t be possible for Chandler Guo’s team to deactivate the difficulty bomb or update the Chain ID to offer replay protection until then.

Persuading developers of mining software to alter their software is another challenging task. Many pieces of mining software, in contrast to client code, are closed-source, which limits the ability of other developers to make updates.

Additionally, Chandler Guo and his group must persuade exchanges, wallet providers, and other stakeholders to support ETHW. Working with node operators is essential when installing and running new functional client applications.

It will take a lot of time and effort to coordinate all of these. Even if Chandler Guo makes all necessary improvements, according to ETC Cooperative, it will be impossible to finish the Ethererum PoW hard fork on schedule. A few weeks remain till The Merge.

The website ethereumpow.org, blog posts, articles, tutorials, and other documentation do not provide any information on client and software development. Any project that wants to build trust must use open-source development.

Ethereum (ETH) must support stablecoins like USDT, USDC, etc. Otherwise, they will lose all of their value. Due to the fact that everything in DeFi is based on stablecoins, the majority of projects will fail. NFTs wouldn’t be supported or acknowledged on the ETHPoW chain either.

Ethereum Classic is supported by Barry Silbert, AntPool, and Vitalik Buterin

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin criticizes the EthereumPoW project, saying they are “simply trying to make a quick buck.” He believes Ethereum miners can move to Ethereum Classic (ETC) post-Merge.

Barry Silbert, CEO of Digital Currency Group, parent of Grayscale, Genesis Trading, and Foundry, encourages ETH miners to switch to ETC. He is also one of the top supporters of the Ethereum Classic ecosystem.

Recently, the world’s largest mining pool AntPool and its CEO Leon Lyu announced a $10 million donation to help the Ethereum Classic ecosystem. Leon Lyu pledges additional funds to the projects.
