Billionaire Elon Musk announced on Tuesday that he will personally investigate Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s PlayStation discontinuing their connection with X (formerly Twitter). Recently, Elon Musk and CEO Linda Yaccarino announced plans to gradually add features to X in an effort to turn the platform into a “everything app” for all purposes, including social media, dating, streaming, audio and video calling, financial, and more.
On November 13, Sony PlayStation stated that support for X on the PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PlayStation 5 (PS5) will stop. Direct image and video sharing between X and PlayStation devices is not going to be possible for users. Microsoft stopped allowing Xbox video sharing from PCs and consoles to X earlier in April. Blizzard, a video game company, likewise stopped supporting X.
Elon Musk commented, “I will look into this,” in response to a post on November 7 regarding PlayStation discontinuing all X integration on the PS5 because of increased X API costs.
Losing integration is a barrier to X’s goal of becoming a significant streaming network among the likes of major platforms like YouTube. The two best game systems are PlayStation and Xbox, so eliminating integration will make it inconvenient for console owners to lose out on X.
Musk also intends to integrate Grok with X after revealing its AI chatbot, Grok. Only subscribers to X Premium+ will have access to it. The new chatbot to take on ChatGPT from OpenAI and other prominent chatbots.
Elon Musk intends to create the X Everything app, which will have capabilities for dating, financial services, payments, streaming, and other services all on one platform. The ability to make audio and video calls was just introduced on X.
Additionally, he made a hint about the integration of Dogecoin (DOGE) for payments for its goods and services.
