In the following months, Domino’s Pizza will roll out a fleet of 2023 Chevy Bolt electric vehicles, totaling 800 of the GM EVs, around the United States in an effort to lessen its environmental effect and recruit new delivery drivers.

The pizza business has already declared a target of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, and its CEO, Russell Weiner, emphasized the need of streamlining pizza delivery.

Domino’s reports that the Chevy Bolt EV will give the firm with zero exhaust emissions, reduced average maintenance expenses than nonelectric cars, and a savings in fuel prices. The new cars, which have a range of 259 miles, will include Domino’s emblems.

In November, 100 automobiles began arriving in chosen franchise and corporate locations around the United States, with 700 more expected in the following months. On September 11, Domino’s had 6,643 shops in the United States, 402 of which were corporate sites.

Domino’s is not the first company to implement a fleet of electric vehicles to enhance pizza delivery.

In 2014, the business debuted the DXP delivery vehicle, a custom-built Chevrolet Spark equipped with a warming oven and unique compartments for things such as sodas.

Domino’s has also been testing driverless delivery with robotics startup Nuro at its Woodland Heights facility in Houston, Texas, using an autonomous on-road truck. Other startups, including Refraction AI, have been developing autonomous pizza-delivery cars.

In 2019, Domino’s locations in large urban areas such as Baltimore and Miami will implement an e-bike delivery program. It presently distributes pizza in 24 worldwide markets via electric bike and scooter.
