Coinbase Has Been Granted Permission to Conduct Digital Asset Activities in France

Coinbase has registered with France’s markets authority, obtaining certification as a virtual asset service provider. The VASP registration will allow the firm to offer digital asset custody, purchase or sell digital assets in legal cash, and trade digital assets against other digital assets.

Coinbase’s goal to expand outside of the United States took another step ahead earlier this month when it allowed non-U.S. institutions to utilize its bitcoin exchange for spot trading. The company’s overseas subsidiary, which started selling futures trading to non-U.S. institutional clients earlier this year, said it also wants to expand its retail customer service and add more digital assets to the platform.
