Coinbase Considered Purchasing FTX Europe Before Bankruptcy

According to Fortune, following FTX’s bankruptcy in November of last year, competitor US-based exchange Coinbase contemplated acquiring the defunct company’s European arm.

According to the article, documents suggest that Coinbase considered purchasing FTX Europe as it looked to expand its crypto derivatives products. The talks were never taken to a “late stage,” according to the article.

While Coinbase is “no longer pursuing the potential deal,” the US-based exchange has expressed interest in acquiring another company early this month, according to Fortune.
