Billionaire Stan Druckenmiller confesses he doesn’t own any bitcoin and believes this is a mistake.
“To be honest, I don’t own any bitcoin, but I should,” Druckenmiller remarked. During a fireside chat at an investors conference in New York City on Oct. 24, the former hedge fund manager who formed Duquesne Capital spoke with hedge fund manager Paul Tudor Jones.
Since at least 2020, the renowned investor has referred to bitcoin as an asset class and store of value comparable to gold. Druckenmiller stated in the same year that he owned some bitcoin, but given his comments on Monday, he must have liquidated his investment.
Druckenmiller mentioned how popular bitcoin is among the younger generation and how, considering how long it has been around, he believes the cryptocurrency, like gold, to be a “brand.” He also stated that while he likes bitcoin as an asset class, he prefers gold, which he owns.
