The decentralized music company Audius, which counts Katy Perry, The Chainsmokers, and other prominent figures in the music industry among its investors, recently completed the purchase of the virtual music experience platform SoundStage.
With the help of this acquisition, Audius plans to strengthen its presence in the metaverse by offering virtual concerts to its users.
According to Roneil Rumburg, CEO and co-founder of Audius, who spoke with The Block about the company’s recent announcement, “For the first time, Audius artists will be able to offer an interactive live music experience to their fans,” which further solidifies Audius as the best place for creators to aggregate and serve their fanbases. Soundstage.fm is an exciting addition to the tools that Audius provides to artists so that they can create new and unique experiences for their fans.
In September of 2021, prominent figures from the music industry, including Katy Perry, The Chainsmokers, Nas, Jason Derulo, and Martin Mandier, formerly of Sony Music as CEO, contributed to a funding round that resulted in over $5 million being raised by Audius.
