The Brazilian government demanded that Apple stop offering iPhones without a battery charger in the nation on Tuesday, September 6. The ministry claimed that Apple is giving customers an incomplete product.

The Justice Ministry fined Apple 12.275 million reais ($2.38 million), ordered the sale of all iPhone models that don’t have a power adapter to be suspended, and banned the sale of all iPhone models that are 12 and newer.

The ministry claimed in the decision, which was published in the nation’s official gazette, that the iPhone was missing a crucial component in a “deliberate discriminatory activity against customers.”

The authorities disagreed with Apple’s claim that the action was taken to lessen carbon emissions, claiming that there is no proof that selling the smartphone without a charger is protecting the environment.

The purchase was made the day before Apple is anticipated to reveal its newest iPhone model.

Apple chose not to respond to a question.
